The Negroponte Doctrine: some evenhandedness for Israel

October 13, 2006 at 2:58 am (International community, Israel, The United Nations, The United States)

I discovered on Wikipedia an interesting issue: The Negroponte Doctrine, which deals with United Nations Security Council resolutions regarding Israel. According to this doctrine, The United States will not support any resolution that condemns Israel but does not explicitly condemn terrorist organizations.

This is confirmed by the website of The United States’ Mission to The United Nations: “The Negroponte Doctrine” concerning UN Security Council Resolutions on the Middle East.

I am glad The United States has been so forceful in its promotion of some evenhandedness regarding international policy towards Israel, which is all too often skewed against Israel and enabling (if not practically praising) terrorist organizations.
