There are no Crusades

There are now no Crusades against the East!
! ليس حروب الصليب على المشرق الآن

The Crusades against the East, proper, ended in 1291, and there have been no more Crusades against the East since then.

A Crusade is a war authorized and preached by The Pope for the defense of Christendom for which participants receive an indulgence. One is required to “take up the Cross” – to make a formal pledge to fight in a Crusade, which pledge may also be redeemed by providing monetary assistance in lieu of joining troops. Without these conditions (proclamation by The Pope, authorization by The Pope, and taking upon oneself a penitential pledge to fight in a Crusade), no Crusade can be said to be legitimate at all.

And so those who allege that The West is fighting a Crusade against Islam are completely ignorant, it seems, as to what a Crusade is. A Crusade is not “holy war” nor is it comparable with jihad.

So there are no Crusades now, and so Muslims and anti-Western propagandists need to revise their accusations.

I would say that the crusades that DID exist at that time were defensive measures, yet, the descriptions offered by mus describe the ottoman expansion? and to think that the ottoman foundation is NOT a relitgious fundamentalism, then you are a fool.

Too tired, kinda drunk, and REALLY nead sleep. OUT.

  2. Zia Sheikh said,

Weird that you define Crusades as being fought for Christendom to defend the Cross, instructed by the Pope etc etc etc, then in the very next paragraph say it’s not “holy war”.

  3. Muslihoon said,

A holy war is a war fought for or commanded by God. Although the Crusades were to defend Christendom, as a duty to Christian brothers/sisters, they were not engaged because they were ordered by God. It may be a holy war insofar as it is authorized by The Holy See and is mainly penitential, but it is not holy in the sense that God has an intrinsic involvement in it, which is different from Islam where God, through the Qur’an (and tafāsīr thereon), ahadīth, sunnah, and sharī’ah has commanded jihād: indeed, it is a fard (albeit kifāyah, yet fard nontheless). Islam, for example, differentiates between (حرب, Harb, “war”) and (جهاد, jihād, “holy war”) whereas there is no such distinction in Western languages: war is war.

As far as I can tell, any war done with a religious reason is “holy war”, however you put a spin on it.

The Islamic definition of Jihad is “struggle” or “strive” a very broad term. For example a hadith, “THe best Jihad is to speak out against a tyrannous/oppressive ruler”.
Jihad CAN mean to fight to defend the cause of Islam where its needed. An interesting verse in the Quran, in Surah Hajj:
    39. To those against whom war is made, permission is given (to fight), because they are wronged;–and verily, Allah is most powerful for their aid;–
    40. (They are) those who have been expelled from their homes in defiance of right,–(for no cause) except that they say, “our Lord is Allah.. If Allah did not check one set of people by means of another, there would surely have been pulled down monasteries, churches, synagogues, and mosques, in which the name of Allah is commemorated in abundant measure. Allah will certainly aid those who aid his (cause);–for verily Allah is full of Strength, Exalted in Might, (able to enforce His Will).

Isn’t it interesting that the Quran says that Jihad is for 1. Defending against wrong 2. Monasteries, churches, synagogues and mosques have ALL used fighting to defend themselves, so Jihad is not limited to Muslims and Islam, according to the Quran, it has always been used in all religions to promote good and get rid of evil.

  5. Jegen said,

So Zia Syeikh, JIHAD is a holy war, war! In self defence, when no other option, no way out. History have said otherwise.

  6. Christopher Taylor said,

True, struggle against evil would be defined in arabic as jihad, but at the same time jihad has more meaning than simply to struggle or strive. It is a clear identifier of a holy war against the unbeliever in a more specific sense rather than the broader struggle (such as struggle against sin).

The west is not engaging in a holy war, it is engaging in a war to stop evil terrorism with global reach. At present that is almost entirely done by Islamic extremists who claim Jihad – that they are engaged in a holy war.

If some factions of Islam keep pushing and fighting the way they are, it may become a war against Islam, which would be a very sad thing. Especially for Islam.

In defining “jihad,” Zia Sheikh leaves out its most pernicious (and pervasive) use within traditional, historical, Qur’anic Islam: offensive warfare against the Infidel and Apostate to make the world Islam.

Here is an excerpt from a post at my ‘blog exposing the horrific truth noted by Emperor Paleologus and cited in the Pope’s recent address. If what follows isn’t “evil and inhuman,” then nothing is:

In traditional Islam, Qur’an, Hadith, and Sira are considered divine revelations from Allah and are authoritative. The following quotations are from Islam’s own “sacred” texts, easily available to the Infidel with an ISP (and the courage to face the truth).

Allah and the false prophet Mohammed on warfare to make the world Islam:

“…fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practise regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful” (Qur’an 9:5).

“Fight them, and Allah will punish them by your hands, cover them with shame, help you (to victory) over them, heal the breasts of Believers…” (Qur’an 9:14).

“Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued” (Qur’an 9:29).

“Say to the Unbelievers, if (now) they desist (from Unbelief), their past would be forgiven them; but if they persist, the punishment of those before them is already (a matter of warning for them). And fight them on until there is no more tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in Allah altogether and everywhere; but if they cease, verily Allah doth see all that they do” (Qur’an 8:38, 39).

“O ye who believe! fight the unbelievers who gird you about, and let them find firmness in you: and know that Allah is with those who fear Him” (Qur’an 9:123).

“Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth, and ye know not” (Qur’an 2:216).

“Allah’s Apostle said: ‘I have been ordered (by Allah) to fight against the people until they testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that Muhammad is Allah’s Apostle, and offer the prayers perfectly and give the obligatory charity, so if they perform at that, then they save their lives and property from me except for Islamic laws and then their reckoning (accounts) will be done by Allah'” (Bukhari Volume 1, Book 2, Number 24).

“Muhammad said, ‘A single endeavor of fighting in Allah’s Cause is better than the world and whatever is in it’” (Bukhari Volume 4, Book 52, Number 50).

“Not equal are those believers who sit (at home) and receive no hurt, and those who strive and fight in the cause of Allah with their goods and their persons. Allah hath granted a grade higher to those who strive and fight with their goods and persons than to those who sit (at home)…But those who strive and fight Hath He distinguished above those who sit (at home) by a special reward…” (Qur’an 4:95).

“A man came to Allah’s Apostle and said, ‘Instruct me as to such a deed as equals Jihad in reward.’ He replied, ‘I do not find such a deed’” (Bukhari Volume 4, Book 52, Number 44).

“Allah hath purchased of the believers their persons and their goods; for theirs (in return) is the garden (of Paradise): they fight in His cause, and slay and are slain: a promise binding on Him in truth, through the Law, the Gospel, and the Qur’an: and who is more faithful to his covenant than Allah? then rejoice in the bargain which ye have concluded: that is the achievement supreme” (Qur’an 9:11).

“O ye who believe! what is the matter with you, that, when ye are asked to go forth in the cause of Allah, ye cling heavily to the earth? Do ye prefer the life of this world to the Hereafter? But little is the comfort of this life, as compared with the Hereafter. Unless ye go forth, He will punish you with a grievous penalty, and put others in your place; but Him ye would not harm in the least. For Allah hath power over all things” (Qur’an 9:38, 39).

Allah and his (false) prophet (considered the “ideal” man in Islam) on terrorism:

“Remember thy Lord inspired the angels (with the message): ‘I am with you: give firmness to the Believers: I will instill terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers: smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger-tips off them'” (Qur’an 8:12).

“Allah’s Apostle said, ‘I have been made victorious with terror. The treasures of the world were brought to me and put in my hand’” (Bukhari Volume 4, Book 52, Number 220).

    The “divine” command for beheading:

“Remember thy Lord inspired the angels (with the message): ‘I am with you: give firmness to the Believers: I will instill terror into the hearts of the Unbelievers: smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger-tips off them'” (Qur’an 8:12).

“Therefore, when ye meet the Unbelievers (in fight), smite at their necks; At length, when ye have thoroughly subdued them, bind a bond firmly (on them): thereafter (is the time for) either generosity or ransom: Until the war lays down its burdens. Thus (are ye commanded): but if it had been Allah’s Will, He could certainly have exacted retribution from them (Himself); but (He lets you fight) in order to test you, some with others. But those who are slain in the Way of Allah,- He will never let their deeds be lost” (Qur’an 47:4).

How Allah deals with prisoners of war:

“The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger, and strive with might and main for mischief through the land is: execution, or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides, or exile from the land: that is their disgrace in this world, and a heavy punishment is theirs in the Hereafter…” (Qur’an 5:33).

And on the abrogation of earlier, more peaceful verses in favor of the numerous verses of blood:

“Whatever communications We abrogate or cause to be forgotten, We bring one better than it or like it. Do you not know that Allah has power over all things” (Qur’an 2:106)?

    Mohammed on freedom of religion:

“Whoever changed his Islamic religion, then kill him” (Bukhari Volume 9, Book 84, Number 57).

    and on truthfulness:

“War is deceit” (Bukhari Volume 4, Book 52, Number 268).

And for those who claim the god of Islam is the God of the Bible, Allah doesn’t think so:

“In blasphemy indeed are those that say that Allah is Christ the son of Mary. Say: “Who then hath the least power against Allah, if His will were to destroy Christ the son of Mary, his mother, and all every – one that is on the earth? For to Allah belongeth the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between. He createth what He pleaseth. For Allah hath power over all things” (Qur’an 5:17).

“They do blaspheme who say: Allah is one of three in a Trinity: for there is no god except One Allah. If they desist not from their word (of blasphemy), verily a grievous penalty will befall the blasphemers among them” (Qur’an 5:73).

“The Jews call ‘Uzair a son of Allah, and the Christians call Christ the son of Allah. That is a saying from their mouth; (in this) they but imitate what the unbelievers of old used to say. Allah’s curse be on them: how they are deluded away from the Truth” (Qur’an 9:30)!
