Deogolwulf of The Joy of Curmudgeonry has an interesting and relevant post on humanity and individuality: “Humanity, Great and Otherwise”. His basic point is that we identify humanity not by the characteristics of the masses but those of the high achievers. When we see what the masses are like, we are shocked and horrified. Which is why if we want to promote a productive humanity, we need to promote a humanity made up of individuals rather than focusing on it as one mass. In any case, read what he has to say.
