Where were you when the world stopped turning?

September 11, 2006 at 10:53 pm (Country music, The United States)

Only a short time ago, I discovered Alan Jackson’s song “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning).” I suppose it’s obvious this is a country song, but it’s one that always makes me tear up. I admit some of the reactions he mentioned were what I did and felt.

All of the following are on YouTube:
Here is one with Alan Jackson live (yet mostly showing him on a large screen).
Here is another one with Alan Jackson live (showing the man himself). If you click “more” in the “About This Video” section, you can read the lyrics.
Here is one version with pictures to commemorate September 11, 2001.
Here is another one with pictures to commemorate September 11, 2001.
Here is a third one with pictures to commemorate September 11, 2001.
Here is the last one I’m listing, also with pictures to commemorate September 11, 2001.

I think it’s a good song encapsulating the various responses of the people to the events of September 11, 2001.
